Continuation of the redesign of the Gentilly Woods branch into a “ community center ” – New Orleans City
Chase Bank branch in Gentilly Woods is undergoing changes to help black and Latin American consumers open bank accounts, get home loans and start businesses.
The bank said on Wednesday it was in the process of transforming the facility into its first “ community center ” branch in the southeast. A grand opening is scheduled for Tuesday.
The branch will have a new community “lounge” and tech bar, and offer workshops on savings, budgeting and mortgage lending; provide mentorship to entrepreneurs and a space to display and sell their wares; and offer free space and Wi-Fi for community groups and neighbors to use for distance learning and work. Chase also plans to announce a new $ 5,000 down payment assistance program for homebuyers in low- to moderate-income neighborhoods.
The branch will still offer traditional banking services. But he now has a full-time “community manager”, a new position created by the bank to engage the community and businesses, inform them of available resources and put them in touch with financial tools, products and services, says A press release. There will also be free programs on budget building, home buying advice, how to finance a small business and more.
Chase’s new branch model, launched in New York’s Harlem neighborhood in 2019 and expanded to Chicago, Dallas and Minneapolis, features a modern design and layout and new technologies such as smart ATMs.
Gentilly Woods branch is part of the recently announced company $ 30 billion commitment advance racial equity and provide more economic opportunities to diverse and underserved communities.
